The village
Zempin – the smallest seaside resort on Usedom
Just under a thousand inhabitants, three kilometres of sandy beach, a fishing harbour on the Achterwasser lagoon and more than forty thatched fishermen's cottages. Zempin lies between Zinnowitz and Koserow at one of the narrowest points of the island.

The beach
Three kilometres of sand, about fifty metres wide
Zempin's beach is fine-grained and reached through the pine woods. It is noticeably quieter than the beaches of the imperial spas – in June and September you often have whole stretches to yourself. There is a dog beach at access 7B on Möwenweg, with a naturist section beyond it.
On the other side of the village lies the Achterwasser: shallow, sheltered and ideal for stand-up paddling and for beginners in watersports. The small fishing harbour, with its roughly 350-year-old oak, is one of the loveliest spots in the village.
Zempin has no pier. The one built in 1933 did not survive the war. The nearest is in Koserow, 3.8 km away – 280 metres long, reopened in 2021, with an eight-metre bell tower at its head.

Cycling & nature
200 kilometres of cycle paths
Usedom has a fully signposted network of around 200 kilometres of cycle paths, and the Usedom cycle route runs straight through Zempin. Koserow, Zinnowitz and Ückeritz make comfortable day rides; further afield lie Peenemünde and the imperial spas.
Usedom has long been known as the sunshine island, with around 1,900 hours of sunshine a year, and about 567 mm of annual rainfall it is comparatively dry. May, June and September are our favourite months: mild, bright and much quieter.
